Autumn Food Photography Workshop

food_photography_workshopAll the ingredients for a fabulous food photography workshop.

Autumn is my favourite season for lots of reasons: it’s my birthday and that means we get to go out for a few nice meals; the light becomes super gorgeous; nature produces the most glorious colours; cuddly jumpers come out of drawers; fires and candles are lit; and, of course, we get a harvest of delicious vegetables and fruit. All of these ‘ingredients’ (except my birthday) make The Autumn Food Photography Workshop a rather special one. It took place on Saturday at a lovely home in Wilmslow – our regular venue thanks to Nikki, who cooks, bakes, sets the scene and is a superb host. Here are a few images from the day to give you a ‘flavour’ of the workshop.

Don’t miss out on the next food photography workshop 9th December 2018, which is rather a bumper one as it’s Christmas!

We always start the day with a look at the essentials of food photography and styling in the relaxed setting of Nikki’s kitchen dining room.photography_workshop_cheshire

First shot of the day was with our phones! They are great for shooting flat lays quickly.flatly_photography

Lunch was a delicious vegetarian curry served with a salad of autumn vegetables and quinoa.

And of course we got to photograph it!

After lunch it was time for some styling practise and learning how to shoot ‘moody.’moody_food_photographyfood_photography_course

Watch this short video to see how I style this shot.

Then some styling alfresco as it was such a beautiful autumnal day.how_to_photograph_food

Unusual for me to me to be captured in action – doing what I love the most 🙂
