All the ingredients for a fabulous food photography workshop.
Autumn is my favourite season for lots of reasons: it’s my birthday and that means we get to go out for a few nice meals; the light becomes super gorgeous; nature produces the most glorious colours; cuddly jumpers come out of drawers; fires and candles are lit; and, of course, we get a harvest of delicious vegetables and fruit. All of these ‘ingredients’ (except my birthday) make The Autumn Food Photography Workshop a rather special one. It took place on Saturday at a lovely home in Wilmslow – our regular venue thanks to Nikki, who cooks, bakes, sets the scene and is a superb host. Here are a few images from the day to give you a ‘flavour’ of the workshop.
Don’t miss out on the next food photography workshop 9th December 2018, which is rather a bumper one as it’s Christmas!
We always start the day with a look at the essentials of food photography and styling in the relaxed setting of Nikki’s kitchen dining room.
First shot of the day was with our phones! They are great for shooting flat lays quickly.
Lunch was a delicious vegetarian curry served with a salad of autumn vegetables and quinoa.
And of course we got to photograph it!
Follow Nikki on Instagram to get the recipe for our lunch.
After lunch it was time for some styling practise and learning how to shoot ‘moody.’
Watch this short video to see how I style this shot.
Then some styling alfresco as it was such a beautiful autumnal day.
Unusual for me to me to be captured in action – doing what I love the most 🙂
