One to one tuition or group* photography courses for dSLRS and mirrorless cameras.
*Please note that I am not currently scheduling specific dates for photography courses with cameras, but am very happy to quote for a group lesson, if you'd like to learn as a family or group of friends. I am offering one to one tuition - details below.

Jane is a great teacher! She explains things in a way that is easy to understand. The day was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend the beginners course to anyone and I have already booked two more. Angela
Are you new to using a SLR or mirrorless camera, using it mainly on AUTO and don't know what all the menus and buttons do? You like photography and want to get some great pictures when you’re out and about, with family, on holiday and during special occasions? You might be wondering whether you need to buy any new lenses or a tripod and want to avoid costly mistakes? Or perhaps you've got the basics sorted but want to move your photography to the next level.
Your one to one lesson will be designed around your ability, your questions, what you like photographing and with your camera. It can be a mix of 'classroom' time and practical photography at a nearby picturesque location.
I've loved photography for ages and was so pleased when we got our new camera, prior to a holiday! It was obvious from my first attempts that I needed expert help to quickly get to grips with all it could do! Jane's course was perfect; she helped me understand what settings to use for different types of shots, without getting lost in jargon. I feel much more confident now and am loving photographing all sorts of subjects and usually not on AUTO! I've still got a way to go though, so I may be back again soon, Jane! Carolynne
Thanks for such a well thought out introduction to using an SLR camera beyond auto! Your friendly and informal approach put us at ease, the presentation covering the theory and the basics was perfectly balanced, putting those to practice outdoors was worth the chill. Looking forward to practising and booking an Improvers lesson! Mel
Two hour lesson £135
This is just the right amount of time for your first lesson to help prevent that feeling of overwhelm or brain fry! Or if you want to concentrate on something specific in detail.
Three hour lesson £175
Sometimes two hours just doesn't seem like long enough! If we are going to cover camera settings, do some practice shooting and then perhaps a little editing the time really flies.
From Snapshots to Great Shots £450
If you are interested in more than one lesson - perhaps you already know that you want to work on a number of different things, shooting techniques, composition, editing etc - then this programme of 8 hours tuition could be perfect for you. I usually recommend that you do between two to three hours at a time and then you go away with 'homework' and projects to work on. At the next lesson we look at your images, discuss what progress you've made and keep moving you along. Many people find this very motivating and they can make great improvements in their ability and confidence over the eight hours.
Your tutor
Hi, I'm Jane and I'm a professional photographer and tutor. I've liked photography since I was a teenager but now I absolutely love it! And that's because I am really confident about taking the image I see in my mind's eye. I've learned how to use my camera and other gear, l understand what a huge difference light makes and I know how to use composition tools and editing to create photographs that connect with people.
And it's this knowledge, skill and enthusiasm that I'd love to share with you on this workshop. I clearly remember being a complete beginner, baffled and put off by all the jargon. I promise you'll feel like your camera is your friend by the end of the lesson.
