Food Photography

Thoroughly enjoyed Jane's Food Styling & Photography Workshop. It was well planned and had plenty of content, with tips & tricks along the way. Jane was very person-centred, meeting everyone's different learning needs. Would definitely recommend any of Jane's photography courses - 100% !! Alison

Learn Food Photography for Social Media, Menus & Marketing

Beautiful food photography doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right light, a few simple styling tricks and a better understanding of your camera or phone, you can create images that make people stop scrolling and start feeling hungry.

My food photography workshops and training sessions are designed to help you photograph food confidently using natural light and simple techniques that work in real kitchens, cafés and restaurants.

Whether you're:

  • a restaurant, café or food business wanting better images for social media

  • a food blogger or content creator

  • an artisan producer or small business owner

  • or simply someone who loves cooking and wants to photograph it beautifully

this training will give you practical skills you can start using straight away.

Sessions can be delivered one-to-one, in small groups or as business training, and are suitable whether you’re using a phone or a camera.

What You'll Learn

Food photography is about much more than just pointing a camera at a plate. During the session we explore the simple techniques that make food look its best.

You’ll learn how to:

  • use natural window light to create beautiful food photographs

  • choose the best angles for different dishes

  • style food so it looks natural and appetising

  • use backgrounds, props and tableware to tell a story

  • create both bright, fresh images and darker moody styles

  • edit your images quickly using Lightroom or phone apps

By the end of the session you’ll have the confidence to create food photos that work for websites, menus, marketing and social media.

Photograph Food Using a Phone or Camera

You don’t need expensive equipment to create great food photography.

Many people now photograph food using their smartphone, and modern phones are capable of producing fantastic results when you know how to use them properly.

During the training I’ll show you how to get the best results whether you're using:

  • a smartphone

  • a mirrorless or DSLR camera

  • or a mix of both

The techniques we cover focus on light, composition and styling - the things that make the biggest difference to your images.

Where the Training Takes Place

Training can be delivered in a way that works best for you. I offer:

  • On-site training at your business - ideal for restaurants, cafés and food brands who want to photograph their own dishes in their own space

  • Small group sessions (2–3 people) in my natural light studio - perfect for hands-on learning in a calm, creative environment

  • Workshops at cookery schools or other suitable venues, where we can combine food preparation and photography

Each option is designed to be practical and tailored, so you’re learning in a setting that reflects how you’ll actually use your photography.
