Beginner photography courses and other levels

photography_workshops_cheshireHi. I’m Jane Burkinshaw, a professional photographer with a business called Jane Burkinshaw Natural Light Photography, specialising in working with businesses in the food and drinks industry to tell their unique story in pictures.

I am also really passionate about helping people to improve their photography and confidence in using their cameras and run beginner photography courses as well as other ability levels.

I haven’t always been able to take good pictures. When my daughter, Abigail, was born (she’s now 23!), I wanted to get nice shots of her but most of them were rubbish! I had a point and shoot camera which I only used on AUTO. When Sam came along two years later I decided I really needed to get a better camera and learn how to use it. I got my first dSLR camera (the ones with lenses that come off) and booked on an A’ Level course.

Fast forward to the present and in addition to working as a pro food photographer, I run phone photography workshops for the National Trust and have taught more than 4000 people, including teams from multi million pound brands including Muller and Spar. Aside from the A ‘Level I’m mainly self-taught and am a firm believer that photography doesn’t have to be all jargon and complicated.

I am currently working on my first book: 'How To Photograph Food With A Phone'

Outside of work you'll find me (still with camera or phone to hand) swimming outdoors, eating out and indulging in a few other hobbies like knitting and painting (strictly an amateur at both!).
