Photography Courses Cheshire
Hi. I’m Jane Burkinshaw, a professional photographer with a business called Jane Burkinshaw Natural Light Photography, specialising in working with businesses to tell their unique story in pictures.
I am also really passionate about helping people to improve their photography and confidence in using their cameras.
I haven’t always been able to take good pictures. When my daughter, Abigail, was born (she’s now 19!), I wanted to get nice shots of her but most of them were rubbish! I had a point and shoot camera which I only used on AUTO. When Sam came along two years later I decided I really needed to get a better camera and learn how to use it. I got my first SLR camera (the ones with lenses that come off) and booked on an A’ Level course.
Fast forward to the present and I take photographs for a living and wouldn't change it for the world! Aside from an A ‘Level gained at evening school, I’m mainly self-taught and am a firm believer that photography doesn’t have to be all jargon and complicated.
I run a wide range of courses and one to one sessions, showing people in simple, jargon free language, how to get off the AUTO settings and take great photographs, whatever your interests or ability. There are courses for beginners, improvers, parents, foodies, teenagers, bloggers and small business owners.
The majority of courses take place in my natural daylight studio, with full facilities and a wide choice of photographic props and backgrounds. Refreshments and a light lunch are served on most courses.
In my blogs, in addition to picking up some great photography tips and ideas, you’ll get to meet the Burkinshaw family – my husband Nic, Abigail (19), Sam (17) and Ferb and Buster, our very bouncy dogs.
Having reached and rushed past the half century mile post, I now spend much of my spare time outdoors trying to stay fit and healthy for another half century. I did my first and probably only triathlon in 2018 and as a result one of my passions now is wild swimming and you can read about that here and laugh at pictures of me in a wet suit.
