Look, if you're not sure, go, book a lesson, join a course, have some fun and see Jane. Here are three things you'll get that you won't get from a book, scrolling "influencers" or endless YouTube videos... 1) all the technical stuff explained in everyday English, and a simple step by step approach to get you going and what to do next. 2) Understanding the tech and geeky stuff is good, but remember the content is king: what's the story? compositing pics, framing, light and the good ol' rule of thirds 3) you get personal feedback and advice - whether it's the strength and limitation of your camera and kit or guidance about your shots & editing. The session I went to was a mixture of class based theory and lots of practice. You'll leave the session with confidence to use your camera/phone as a tool and ready to take the opportunity to try and take pictures you'll enjoy. What's not to like ? I had the gear and tried learning through YouTube but this was a brilliant blend of theory and practise and Jane was a great tutor. Did a half day course recently on digital phone photography - really really useful Jane was really helpful - would highly recommend to anyone using their phone to take pictures! She was very welcoming and an excellent teacher. She listened to me and quickly understood my level, adapting her lesson so that we could make the most of the time. I attended Jane’s “Lightroom for Beginners” workshop on Tuesday, 15th July at the new Share Your Story store in Altrincham. Jane’s style of teaching always works really well for me. She balances the right level of expertise and guidance with a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and the new surroundings at the store are just perfect. The course is hands on and practical with easy to understand notes to take away and I picked up some great tips and tricks to help improve the quality of my photos in just a few short clicks! I would highly recommend anyone who wants to uncover the secrets of Lightroom but is a bit nervous about where to start attends this workshop!
